Our
Story

We are a 3rd, 4th, & 5th generation family owned and operated ranch in Decatur County Iowa. The land we work and love was acquired in 1958 by Grandpa Monte Clampitt who believed in one breed of cattle, and they were black.
My oh my, did things change in 2018 when a spoiled wife wanted a couple of Scottish highland cows for pets.
Grandpa Monte likely rolled over in his grave when those fluffy cows, lovingly name Aria & Williow, hopped off of the trailer and were quickly being halter led while adorned in floral headbands parading around his little bit of heaven that had since been passed on to his daughter Mert, & then onto her youngest son Terry.
His little bit of heaven quickly went from the two fluffy cows, to four, then somehow skyrocketed to 30 and onto 40 plus as calves came and went over the next few years.
We specialize in purebred HHCA registered Scottish Highland cattle.
Our ranch offers a wide variety of Agri-tourism opportunities for others to enjoy as we love to share this amazing breed of cattle.
We also have a flower farm where we grow many varieties of fresh cut flowers.
We don't just have cows and flowers though, we also share this space with horses, chickens, ducks, goats, & bunnies.
You just never know what will show up and call this place home next!
We have a roadside stand named Flora where you can pick up the freshest of eggs, in season garden produce, & flower bouquets daily.
In addition to Flora, the roadside stand, we also have a small store, Highland Harvest where you can purchase Clampitt Hills Ranch merch, all things Scottish Highland, when available fresh frozen Scottish Highland Beef grown right here on our ranch, cold or warm drinks depending on the season, fresh popped popcorn, or frozen pizzas that you can bake yourself right in our commercial double pizza oven.
Annually, the third Saturday in September, we host the Farm Girls Flea Market, a 100 plus boutique style vendor market, smack dab in the middle of our hay field with music, food, & of course the cows on display for others to enjoy.
This year, 2025, we are expanding our Agri-tourism to include farm tours, day camps, birthday parties in the barnyard, barnyard yoga, trail rides, a bunk house for overnight stays, private party & event rental, farm tours, markets, painting parties & other family friendly events.
Watch our Facebook events page and the calendar here on this web page for a current list of scheduled events.
We are excited to share this little bit of heaven with you!
